Born in Nantes in 1936, ARGENCE sarts painting at the age of 14 but become a professional when in Paris-Montparnasse around the Fifties, where he met Picasso, Giacometti, Hartung and many others. He was also a photopgraph thus travelling around the word as a reporter.
As a painter he is interested in earth materials like marble powder, wood and stone sand. Several journeys in USA, Japan, Soudia Arabia, Italy where he spent long period of time in Sardinia or marble exploitation of CARRARA made a strong influence on his paintings which brings meditation and some monochomism or variations around a color or a material.. He had many personnal exhibitions in Paris, Marseille, New-York, Miami, Roma, Milano, in Switzerland, Japan and California. Presently he lives and works in Provence surrounded by wineyards and pines.
