Gian Carlo BARGONI was born in GENOA in 1936. He works mostly in his studio in Tuscany where he bathes in the colorful harmony of the hilly land scape of Florentine Italy. In large to smaller canvases he surimposes layers of paint like the ancient frescoes found in Italian churches or castles. His works on paper, also revealing the essence of the matter, exposes whitout any restraint the intensity of the colors as well as the nature of diverse materials he uses, whether ruffled papers, powders or pigments. From his most abstract works , one can get the feeling of mountainous land scapes, of unavowed polar lights, of tumultuous runs down icy waterfalls.
In 1956 he held his first solo exhibition in Genoa, Italy followed by studies in Ravenna, Paris where he worked with Sonia Delaunay. He founded in1963 the Tempo 3 Group in Genoa. Since this period he pursued and deepened his research on color and thickness, using oils and pigments of exceptional qualities.
Bargoni is represented by very well known galleries in Paris, Milano, Dusseldorf, Firenze and takes part in many international exhibitions and salons of contemporary art in Europe and USA. He had several exhibitions organized by the Galerie Horizon in Marseille and San Franscisco Bay.
