Pierre-Régis DIDES born in 1961 in Montpellier, France, is an artist very attached to the land. Nothing interests him more than the mineral, memory of telluric forces and their magic changes. He reveals to us a Mother Nature that only the regard of the artist could uncover, with a force born of earthly depths, tamed by artistic transformation. In his large, colorful compositions appears his love for the Mediterranean region.
The titles of his works carry mysterious names: " Camporeils, Llilouvre,Gazels " simple terms of topographic origin, names of terror, of Mediterranean lands that suddendly jump before the eyes. And the shock is violent, skimming over distant lands where ocre prairies, violet lakes, and tumbling rivers thaht swim over burnt lands, granite, lava flow and fire. Pierre Regis makes his canvasses explode with the pulse of life.
Dides has held numerous personal and collective exhibitions, primarly in France and in California under the auspices of the Galerie Horizon. He also participated in several salons and biennals.
